Help For Abused Children Charity Drive

Looking for donations for abused children.

I would like to offer the opportunity for some signage to my fellow Etsy friends. I am the Silent Auction Coordinator for a big fundraiser for my work and I am looking for donations.

First I would like to say a little bit about my work. I am employed at The Ark Assessment Center & Emergency Shelter for Youth, in Corpus Christi, Texas. What we do is provide a home for children who have been abused by their parents or family, while child protective services finds another home for the child, whether its a foster home or back with their parents after the judges approval. I have seen children, all ages, with broken bones, black eyes, bald spots, cigarette burns and other terrible things that have been done to them. These kids come right here from Corpus Christi and all the surrounding areas. I wrote an article on hubpages about these children that made it into the Hub Nuggets new letter.

From reading the comments on the article you can see that many were touched by reading this.

If you are interested in donating an item for our silent auction please contact me, Zulema Tomlinson, ztomlinson@ark4kids.com, 361-241-6566 M-Th 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or Sister Milagros at the same number any time, day or night, she is always available. You can also mail in any items to 12960 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. Donations are tax exempt 501 (c)(3). Deadline is September 8th. Your item will be seen by atleast 500 people at The Ortiz Center on September 15, 2011. Handmade items are always a big hit at the auction. This year our keynote speaker is Dave Pelzer, Author of "A Child Called 'It'" a true story of his own experience with child abuse. He will be signing his book that night as well.

I hope you take the time to read my article and consider making a donation. I honestly love my job and I try my best to make this fundraiser a success. All the proceeds go to benefit the children directly, whether its for school clothes and supplies, hygiene items, food, and any other items that is needed to take care of a child. We also accept used clothes, toys and other miscellaneous items all year long, we also take volunteer applications if you would like to help in a more hands on way.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.
